My offering for 2023, titled "flight//subterranean_meditation," follows my previous electroacoustic "subterranean meditations" (prelude&lachrymal, ablutions, and cries&screams). It contemplates the titular concept of flight: how voluntary/involuntary, assisted/unassisted flight has shaped individuals, families, and communities (particularly the countless Africans taken from their homelands and enslaved in the Americas, as well as those African Americans who partook in the Great Migration).

This piece of sound art was produced using the same Starkey Labs analogue modular synthesizer I recorded "cries&screams" on, along with some novel post-recording processing techniques on my computer.
